Answers to common questions about GLP-1 medications, telehealth prescriptions, and doctor-supervised weight loss that fits your life

Frequently Asked Questions

Semaglutide FAQs

What is semaglutide and how does it help with weight loss?

Semaglutide is a prescription injectable that mimics the GLP-1 hormone. It reduces appetite, delays digestion, and helps regulate blood sugar. This leads to natural, sustainable weight loss when combined with medical oversight.

Who qualifies for semaglutide treatment?

Adults with a BMI of 30+, or 25+ with a weight related condition. Adolescents (12+) with obesity may also qualify. Our provider will confirm eligibility during your discovery call.

When might I notice changes?

Most clients begin noticing weight loss within the first 4–6 weeks. Full results typically occur over several months with continued treatment and lifestyle support.Response to treatment varies from person to person. Your provider will monitor your progress, tolerability, and overall response over time and adjust your treatment plan when medically appropriate. Individual results and timelines cannot be guaranteed. Most clients begin noticing weight loss within the first 4–6 weeks. Are there side effects?

Some clients may experience mild nausea, fatigue, or digestive changes that usually resolve as your body adjusts. Serious side effects are rare and discussed during your consult.

Will I need to follow a specific diet?

No extreme diets are required. However, we recommend moderate calorie control, protein focused meals, and hydration for optimal results.

Microdosing FAQs

What medication is used in this program?

We use prescription GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide — when medically appropriate. These medications help regulate appetite, support healthy metabolism, and can lead to sustainable weight loss. Our program is designed to use microdosing for fewer side effects and long-term success.

Who is this program for?

This is ideal for women ages 30 to 70 who are struggling with weight gain, especially around perimenopause or menopause. If you’re frustrated by diets that stop working and want a medically guided approach that fits real life, this may be a great fit.

Do I need to go into an office?

Nope. Our entire program is 100% virtual. You’ll meet with your provider by video, and your medications are shipped discreetly to your home.

Is insurance accepted?

Most insurance plans don’t cover GLP-1 medication for weight loss. That’s why we created an affordable self-pay model with upfront pricing and no surprise fees. HSA/FSA cards may be accepted — check with your provider.

What if I’ve tried these meds before and didn’t like the side effects?

Our program uses a low-dose, gradual microdosing approach. Many women who’ve struggled with side effects on higher doses find this style of treatment gentler, easier to maintain, and still effective over time.

How do I get started?

Just book a quick intro call with our care team. There’s no pressure, and we’ll walk you through the process, pricing, and if it’s right for your body and goals.

Teen Medical Weight Loss FAQs

Is medical weight loss safe for teens?

Yes, when supervised by board-certified specialists. Our program uses FDA-approved medications like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide which have been clinically proven safe and effective for adolescents ages 12+.

Is Tirzepatide safe for teens?

Yes — Tirzepatide (a type of GLP-1 medication) is FDA-approved for adolescents 12 years and older who meet certain medical criteria. At California Trim Clinic, every teen’s plan is reviewed by a licensed provider to ensure safety, appropriate dosage, and proper follow-up.

What does the program include?

Each plan includes:

● Weekly virtual check-ins

● GLP-1 medication (if medically appropriate)

● Family support + teen resources

● Ongoing safety monitoring via CRM

● Nutritional support through vitamins

Will this work if my child has tried other diets?

GLP-1 medications work differently. They support appetite regulation and insulin balance, which can help where typical diets fail. We often help teens who haven’t seen results with diet and exercise alone.

Do you accept insurance or offer payment plans?

Insurance does not currently cover our program, but we’ve kept pricing low to make care accessible. Cherry and Affirm financing is available through our page. You may also use HSA/FSA cards, and our team can help with Superbills if needed.

Can my teen join from anywhere in California, Arizona, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Minnesota, New York, Washington, Ohio, Georgia, Iowa, and Tennessee?

Yes — our telemedicine clinic is licensed to treat patients across California, Arizona, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Minnesota, New York, Washington, Ohio, Georgia, Iowa, and Tennessee. Whether you’re in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, New York City, Seattle, Columbus, or a smaller city, your teen can access care from the comfort of home.

Services FAQs

Is California Trim Clinic legitimate — are these real doctors?

Yes. Every plan is reviewed and prescribed by a clinician licensed in your state, and all medication is dispensed by state-licensed pharmacies. You can message your care team seven days a week.

How much does treatment cost?

Every program is a flat monthly amount that includes your provider visits, dose adjustments and ongoing check-ins — no insurance billing and no per-visit fees. Prices differ by treatment; each treatment page lists its own, and your clinician confirms the exact figure on your consult before anything is charged.

Do I need insurance?

California Trim Clinic operates on a self-pay, pay-per-service model, so insurance coverage is not required to receive care. Depending on your plan, you may be able to use HSA or FSA funds for eligible services or treatments.

We also offer flexible financing options through third-party providers such as Sezzle, Cherry, and Affirm, subject to approval and availability, so you may be able to split the cost of your care into manageable payments.

How do I know the medication is legitimate?

Every prescription is written by a licensed provider after a live visit and a review of your bloodwork, and dispensed by a licensed pharmacy. Nothing is shipped without a provider deciding it is right for you.

How fast will I see results?

It depends entirely on the program and on you. Weight-loss patients on GLP-1 therapy typically notice appetite changes within the first few weeks, with meaningful weight change over months. Hormone therapy is usually assessed at six to eight weeks with repeat labs.

Can I cancel or pause?

Yes, any time, with no penalty. Talk to your care team first if you are mid-titration so they can taper you safely.

Which states do you serve?

Availability varies by treatment, because prescribing rules differ from state to state — a medication we can prescribe in one state may not be available in another. Enter your state at the start of your free evaluation and we will tell you immediately what we can and cannot offer you there.
